- Become consecrated on Simchat Torah and introduced to the concept of One God as they recite the Shema.
- Learn about the Jewish holidays and their relationship to the seasons of the year.
- Become familiar with holiday and food Brachot (blessings) and introduced to religious service prayers.
- Begin to think about God's role in the world. (God is everywhere: in nature, animals, and people.)
- Learn about the symbols inside the synagogue and appreciate the sanctuary as a special place.
- Discover what fulfilling mitzvot (obligations) entails.
- Begin to develop a connection to Hebrew through holiday vocabulary and classroom phrases.
- Introduction to Jewish history and the Torah.
- Introduction to the Hebrew alphabet.
- Learn about the holiness of the Torah. Expand their knowledge of essential holiday objects, rituals and Hebrew vocabulary.
- Introduction to moral and ethical lessons from the Torah.
- Begin to understand the concepts stated in Pirket Avot, Torah, worship, and Acts of Loving-Kindness.
